This week is a big week for Skirball and Bob Dylan.
Tonight is the exclusive opening of the exhibit to a select group. There will be hundreds of members, donors, etc attending to get a glimpse of the exhibit.
California Drivers can now act on trucks dropping rocks and other material
It's a recurring theme. Trucks driving on the roads dropping all sorts of junk, from rocks, dirt, and other material.
This morning a truck from Allied Waste was moving around 65 on the 5 North in the Glendale Burbank area and was dropping all sorts of rocks and dirt.
The truck was so dirty that you could barely read the lettering on the side. The truck number was 3004. Which is a number on the front of the truck. From the rear the truck had no license plate or it was so hidden you couldn't even see it.
The truck also had som plastic tarps covering the hole in the rear, but they were flapping all over the place, apparently loosely tied down with rope. Because things came out. The only thing I can think of is that the opening is usually covered and sealed with a metal plate, but wasn't working. Regardless this should not be allowed.
I called the company Allied Waste, they have no link or info on their website regarding how to contact them with these type of situation.
So I have dings on my hood again. Now apparently there is a number you can call in California to report these trucks.

According to MySpace, its new MySpace Developer Platform Site will allow developers to connect and laern about, build, test, and deploy MySpace applications.

Voting on Tuesday - Feb 6, 2008
Last night I received this email from a a close friend, Ellen Naumann. One persons account of how important and serious we should be taking our right to vote and that it shouldn't be taken for granted.

To my family and friends,
January 30, 2008
I voted today. Realized that I would be missing the primaries on 2/5 here in CA and had missed the deadline for vote-by-mail, so I drove over 50 miles to cast my vote.
I can hear many of you now saying, “and your point is what?” Well, I’m writing because I am compelled to encourage all of my friends and associates to vote Feb. 5th, or whenever your polls are open.
My vote today was cast in one of LA County’s main government buildings. Perhaps the air of bureaucracy made it feel different than my usual polling place, (a spot in the trailer park clubhouse down the street), but it did feel different in a very great way; it felt really patriotic and meaningful and it got me thinking about how important our votes are.
My vote got me thinking about how women before me had to fight for our right to vote and now we have a woman running for President, and we have a woman as our Speaker of the House of Representatives. It reminded me how African Americans also had to fight for their constitutional right to vote and to be acknowledged, accepted and treated equally. And now we have an African American running for President, who transcends any archaic color barriers. And up until recently, we had John Edwards, a kid from a poor family who is yet another example of how one’s own personal success can ultimately be used towards helping the greater good.
It got me thinking that voting is our way of saying thank you to our senior citizens, to their predecessors and to their predecessors who worked towards establishing this right to vote for all Americans. And how voting is our way of demonstrating to the generations after us, that each of us counts as a citizen of America, no matter race, gender, color, sexual orientation, or creed.
And so there I stood in the little booth, with total freedom to choose which candidate I wanted to win this primary! How cool is that? I got to vote about the roads and community colleges, and term limits and gaming revenues in our state. I was at that moment an active participant in democracy in the purest form possible, I was voting.
My effort – and your effort to vote – most especially honors every single man, woman and child affected by this terrible war – the families here and the innocent civilians and victims in Iraq. Voting here at home is the very least we can do to honor all people who suffer, fight and stand-up for freedom, civil liberties, and human rights, no matter the country.
Obviously my party affiliation in this vote is Democratic, but I am a citizen first, honoring, respecting and exercising my right to vote. I hope you will do the same with yours.

Yahoo Aims to End Subscription Service, Promote Rhapsody

Yahoo Inc., as it ponders a takeover offer from Microsoft Corp., plans
to shutter an online music service that charged users a flat monthly fee
to access a vast library of songs.
In place of that service, Yahoo, Sunnyvale, Calif., has cut a deal to
use its online audience to promote Rhapsody, a rival subscription music
service jointly owned by RealNetworks Inc. and Viacom Inc.'s MTV. Yahoo
said it will migrate existing Yahoo Music Unlimited subscribers -- the
number of which it didn't disclose -- to Rhapsody accounts in the coming
months.
The music deal was struck before Microsoft's disclosure of its $44.6
billion takeover offer for Yahoo on Friday. Financial terms weren't
disclosed.
Yahoo's move is part of a broader retrenchment by the company in
categories in which it hasn't found much success, such as podcasting.
Last week, Yahoo issued a tepid financial forecast for the year and
announced plans to lay off 1,000 of its 14,300 employees.
The Internet company made a big splash when it entered the subscription
music business nearly three years ago with an aggressively priced
service designed to be a compelling alternative to Apple Inc.'s iTunes
store. Yahoo Music Unlimited, now priced at $8.99 a month, let users
listen to an unlimited amount of music as long as they remained paying
subscribers.
While many music and technology executives believe subscription music
services hold promise, such services haven't yet found a mass audience,
in part because of technical restrictions that complicated listening to
songs away from personal computers.
Ian Rogers, vice president of video and media applications at Yahoo,
said the company decided to discontinue its own subscription service in
part because of the expensive effort it would have to make to ensure
that the service could work with a wide range of electronic devices.
Rhapsody is increasingly integrating its service with cellphones and
home-entertainment devices such as TiVo digital video recorders.
"We're not investing in a lot of the killer features that are the icing
on the cake," said Mr. Rogers.
Rob Glaser, chief executive of Seattle-based RealNetworks, said the
exposure that Rhapsody will get on Yahoo -- one of the top music
destinations on the Web with its large library of music videos, radio
stations and other content -- will help introduce the service to a wider
audience. "They're going to be among our most important partners," Mr.
Glaser said.
RealNetworks has 2.75 million subscribers to various music services,
including Rhapsody.
Yahoo executives said the company intends to pursue a more "open" music
strategy, in which it will provide music-related services that are
accessible to Internet users as they visit blogs and other independent
Web sites.

Dr Salami's in Iowa a stranger gives a couple a blank check and they write $100,000 and the check clears.
Apparently the stranger also gave a $100 tip to the waitress and bought drinks for everyone in the Dr. Salami's.
People are obviously stunned, but also very pleased that there are people who still give. Wether or not this person really intended to give the money is still being questioned. Apparently he had no family and is sick and aging.
I am sure he will make a difference to the family who received the money, hopefully they will put it to good use.
