A number of you contacted us to rave about a new sushi restaurant and so we thought we should check it out. I know, it's tough work. It turns out that we not only discovered a great new sushi restaurant, but also rediscovered an old favorite.
Oba sushi izakaya opened in May in the White House Mall next to Derek's Restaurant. It is largely the creation of Kunche, the former general manager of our old favorite, Sushi of Naples. Reuniting with a number of former co-workers, including the chef and servers, she's gone back to the basics of quality food and service, added personal touches and voila - a first class restaurant. Kunche and the chef personally select the fish from the market. Sauces and accents are made from scratch every day. There is a wide selection of sake and beer imported from Japan. In addition to sushi, teriyaki, tempura and sukiyaki dishes that are so popular, they have izakaya style dishes - small plates common in Japanese pubs. This is a great new addition to the local restaurant scene.

OMG! I would never eat here again! We made a take out and our first experience was not pleasant at all.
Number 1. Because their portion was too small for the price for the roll.
Number 2. Their Oba roll was terrible the beef was not fresh at all it taste like they cooked the left from night before or something.
Number 3. I can't believe they used iceburg lettuce inside the roll.
Never again eat here! They really need to work on their rolls.
