In July, the company moved to a new 12,600-square-foot facility at 81 W. Bellevue Dr. in Pasadena to allow for laboratory expansion and pilot-production capacity.

Superprotonic, whose technology is currently being tested by customers, employs 15 workers and hopes to bring its products to market within 18 months.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Pasadena, and Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard are expected to attend a grand opening today for the company's new facility.

Superprotonic is an energy technology company established to market and commercialize the innovative solid acid fuel cell (SAFC) technology developed and patented by the company's founders at the California Institute of Technology. Solid acid fuel cells offer significant cost and performance advantages compared to other fuel cell technologies currently under development.
Our technologically superior, economically competitive, environmentally beneficial SAFCs promise to revolutionize the automotive, small stationary/residential, and portable electronics power markets, which are estimated to reach $12.5 billion by 2012. Superprotonic aims to be the exclusive manufacturer and supplier of SAFC stacks.

Superprotonic Inc.'s core technology relies on the "superprotonic" properties of a solid acid, a material studied by founders Dane Boysen and Calum Chisholm during their doctoral work at Caltech.
