Santa Monica Civic Auditorium

The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year, having opened in June 1958! Designed by Welton Becket, the hall is an excellent example of mid-century International Style. Its hydraulic concrete floor, unique for its time, allows a wide variety of programs ranging from concerts to sporting events, banquets to exhibit shows.

It was the site of the Academy Awards from 1961 to 1968. During the '70's and '80's legendary rock acts like Elton John, the Clash, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith sold out the hall to enthusiastic fans. Today the Civic is the home of the Santa Monica Symphony, and many prominent art shows and expos, including AltCar and AltBuild.

The Civic Auditorium is an integral element in the City of Santa Monica's long range community cultural plan, Creative Capital. Watch the next 50 years as the Civic Auditorium continues to provide a creative home in the heart of the City.

Parking is $8.00
